At first glance, this book looks like a really first class, in depth manual. But try to use it, and one is immediately given an example using Internet Explorer - quite natural, as this is a book published by Microsoft!! But, I found this tiresome after a time because I rarely use IE.; I much prefer to browse with Firefox or Google Chrome. More important, though, is that the treatment of the examples is rather casual (not enough steps shown); there are many books which do this much better - one that I use a lot is in the Brilliant series. The illustrations in Microsoft's book remind me of old black and white films - grainy, not sharp, and generally unhelpful. Why Microsoft stints on colour is beyond me

I am working on chapter 7 at the moment, I will not be giving this a good rating the only reason I am continuing with the book is I can't let it beat me. From about the middle of Chapter 1, I started to become so frustrated with the unnecessary use of comments that came before you ever got to the point. Sadly this seems to continue through out the chapters. The content is back to from - meaning you read some - it jumps' to information in another chapter and then goes back. The lack of colour in the book is uninviting. There are a lot of errors in the book - and missed information - I have had to go to the internet to get some of the information to complete some of the steps provided in the book. Very disappointing book.

Puzzled by others negative reviews of this book which I found to be much clearer exposition of 8.1 than others I've bought. The practice files I've not bothered with--to no obvious detriment. If in doubt, do as I did: I borrowed it from the local library and decided it was worth purchase.

Unfortunately this copy is in fact a copy, areas that should be marked out in Blue are faint Black, which suggests a cheap copy. I would advise not from this supplier.
